Can i get charged with affray when it was at the place i live at?

I got into a fight with my gf's brother and threatened him with knives, but i didnt touch him, and i got beaten up pretty hard., i was living with my gf at the time, so why so is being charged with affray - aggravated offence/ carry offensive weapon not right? Seeing no one pressed charges except the police.
